Christopher Aguilar - alto/tenor saxophone, vocals, guitar
Chris, a Pisces, began playing the sax at age 10. He played in the marching, jazz and pep bands at Rio Grande H.S. between 1988 and 1992. After years of studies Chris joined the band Simpatico. He has also played with Grupo Pasion, Latin Fusion and La Onda. Chris is one of the 'founding fathers' of Grupo Herencia and is known for saying "record it!" every now and then. Musical influences include: Fito Olivares, Dave Koz, David Sanborn, Dolly Parton and Leroi Moore.
Richard Cisneros - drums, vocals, accordion, tenor sax
Rich, is a native of Albuquerque, NM. After playing in high school and university bands, Rich played with the local band 'Los Musicos de Christo'. Rich later joined Dan and Chris in Herencia where he played alto and tenor sax, accordian, and keyboard. He "re-located" to drums a few years ago and now sits all the time. Musical influences include: Flaco Jimenez, Dave Matthews Band, Juanes, and The Mavericks.
Ken Wichelns- guitar, vocals
Ken was born and resides in Albuquerque with his daughter Camila. After attending UNM, Ken played in several local Rock and Country bands. In the late 90's traveled and lived in Central and South America where he became very interested in la musica latina. Some of his main influences are the rock/blues guitarists,such as Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and jazz guitarists such as Joe Pass and Django Rhinehart.
Daniel Lopez - guitar, vocals, keyboard
Daniel is from the city of Santa Fe and has been with Grupo Herencia for 10 years--yes another of the 'founding fathers'. Dan has also played with Grupo Pasion, Latin Fusion and La Onda. His musical influences include good 'ol Rock n Roll as well as New Mexico Spanish music.
Jake Winter - bass guitar
Jake joined Herencia in 2012 and has made a smooth transition into the group. "As the bass player, it's important to find the groove and idiosyncrasies; once the symmetry has harvested it transcends into a good compilation". Jake likes YAFL football and catching up on the latest Redbox selections of the month. His influences include Randy Castillo, Georges St. Pierre, Sublime, and Bob Marley.
Carlos Saiz - trumpet, vocals
Carlos, inspired by Mark Goodrum and John Nelson during middle and high school to play the trumpet. "Mariachi Villegas taught me how to sing and perform in front of people. Seeing my mother dance and enjoy music is what made me find my reason for playing. I play loud and clear for you mom for I know you can hear me from heaven." I am honored to play with such a talented group of guys, I hope you enjoy our music.
